Translation from English into Vietnamese First session

I start a new project in translation, and would like to have your comments. I use Skype to discuss with a trainee texts translated by her. It's very practical, down to earth, if you like.
This is the first session:

[1:46:01 PM] Ngoc Tran: OK. But I see for the title of the book that is the topic of the text, you've translate it a little bit not ... I'd say "loose". (The Verification Handbook for Investigative Reporting= (Tạm dịch: Sổ tay về sàng lọc thông tin trong báo chí điều tra )) I'd edit it like this:

[1:48:08 PM] Ngoc Tran: Note: "verification" means: the process of establishing the truth, accuracy, or validity of something. Here are some synonyms: confirmation, proof, validation.

[1:49:59 PM] Jolie Tran: I just come up an idea that it should be "xác minh thông tin/tư liệu". I don't know why I chose the equivalent "sàng lọc thông tin" for this term, even though I know its meaning.

[1:57:29 PM] Ngoc Tran: "Published by ..." is very English, or "very western". If you translate word by word this, you'll get an awkward Vietnamese phrase.
[1:58:35 PM] Ngoc Tran: "Published by ...": Được phát hành bởi ... It's awkward.
[1:59:31 PM] Jolie Tran: I see. I think instead I should render it into: "Quyển sách này do Trung tâm Báo chí Châu Âu, một thành viên của Mạng lưới Báo chí Điều tra toàn cầu (GIJN) phát hành..."

[2:05:30 PM] Ngoc Tran: Ok. Good. But be careful with typo: We write "châu Âu", not "Châu Âu". Also you should split this sentence into two sentences (after the third comma), and of course rewrite them a little bit.

[2:12:42 PM] Jolie Tran: I have a question: Do you think sometimes we can replace "quyển sách" with "tác phẩm"? Since I think "tác phẩm" is more associated with kind literature works rather than this type .
[2:13:16 PM] Jolie Tran: But still, I prefer we have more choices of word to flexibly and interchangeably use them in the translation.
[2:17:01 PM] Ngoc Tran: "tác phẩm" is a little bit "grandiose", so keep "quyển sách" for "manual", or better: "sách kiểu dạy nghề này".  And think again about word use: can we skip some? i.e.: "hiện nay"...; "phiên bản"?
[2:21:09 PM] Jolie Tran: I agree that we can shorten the sentence. I will rewrite this:
[2:22:56 PM] Jolie Tran: Well, I changed my mind. I think we can skip "hiện nay", yet "phiên bản" is still necessary.
[2:23:38 PM] Jolie Tran: Since more and more books are being offered in 02 editions: printed books and e-books (a.k.a downloadable versions)

[2:35:29 PM] Jolie Tran: As far as I know, this word means "tái bản". Yet I do think it sounds weird to use the meaning in this context, Prof.

[2:41:31 PM] Ngoc Tran: So try to find another word for it. And also try to rewrite "được viết bởi chuyên gia tìm kiếm trực tuyến Paul Myers.".  'được.... bởi'

[2:48:28 PM] Jolie Tran: So we can use "dưới đây". However, I wonder if there is really difference between "sau đây" and "dưới đây", I mean, in a journal or a text?
[2:49:25 PM] Jolie Tran: Since I oftentimes see them both in similar contexts (in journalism, etc.), and I always think it can be interchangeably used, Prof.
